Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) does not apply to non-commercial organizations like Probus clubs for activities such as collecting membership fees, organizing club activities, compiling a list of members' names and addresses, or mailing out newsletters. Probus clubs are thus not required to post relevant policies on their websites.

However, as responsible and caring handlers of personal information we owe it to our members and guests to protect their information the best way we can and to be transparent about it. This is why it is recommended to have a privicy policy in place, to make it available via the club's website, and to follow it!
